Shhhhh...
I have always liked 'Do Not Disturb' signs and have accumulated a few, but it's rare to find good ones anymore. Most signs around today lack any creativity or memorable art. This site has put together a great collection. Managing to find both beautiful vintage tags, along with some cool newer ones, it's worth taking a look at. Click here.

Hit The Road...

Roadside America, by "roads" scholar John Margolies, is another great book from Taschen. His color saturated photos capture the magic and charm of vintage roadside architecture and signage.

Sneak Peak...

Being a fan of most things hotel/motel related, neon signs like the one above usually grab my attention--- throw in some noir and I'm hooked. This performance piece in London looks pretty cool- see a preview video here.

Moonlight Motel...

I really like these images from the series "Love Motel" by photographer Baldomero Fernandez. They beautifully portray the mix of kitsch and exoticism that makes retro motels so intriguing. Click here to see more of his incredible work.

Disturbia...

Here are a few "Do Not Disturb" tags I've accumulated over the years. The really unique ones are becoming harder and harder to find as the hotel/motel business gets increasingly commoditized. Here's a cool modern tag that covers all the possibilities.

Negative Thinking...

I was instantly drawn to the graphic images of L.A. based photographer Charlie Bidwell. His generous use of negative space sets off the iconic signs and roadside architecture he beautifully captures on film.
